Blue Chip Farms was established in 1969 and is a world-renowned horse breeding farm, notable for its Olympic gold medal winning jumpers. Our unique development idea was born out of a genuine desire to protect this extraordinarily scenic 700-acre rural property and preserve its equestrian origin.

The development plan is to downsize the existing horse farm and create a ground-breaking, climate positive community that aims to not only trailblaze new construction techniques but also aspires to set a new standard for all future developments of its kind.

The world-class  development will feature 100 cabins, three restaurants, clubhouse with spa and wellness center, children’s barn, equestrian center, and an Audubon-certified 12-hole natural golf course, as well as a number of single-family residences.

At the core of its design, SHELTER will blend effortlessly into the natural landscape, constructed using locally sourced eco-friendly materials by local craftspeople, in the most energy efficient manner possible today.

Our desire is to have renewable energy across the site and create the lowest impact possible and we are keen to showcase products and technologies that are working to create a positive effect on the environment.

SHELTER will embrace all that the Hudson Valley has to offer and celebrate both its agricultural history and extraordinary landscape.

As well as providing additional housing to meet the ever-growing demand in the Hudson Valley, SHELTER will become a destination, generating significant financial benefits and diversification for the local economy through increased tourism.

SHELTER will help to support and connect the community by providing opportunities for local people, including the creation of hundreds of new jobs.

We have developed relationships with multiple businesses based in the Hudson Valley and wider New York State and aim to showcase local manufacturers, craftspeople and suppliers that are working to create a positive impact on the environment.

The SHELTER ‘Twenty-Mile Menu’ will champion local farmers and small-holders in a way that will allow everyone to genuinely benefit.  Residents, guests and visitors will be able to purchase these products from the on-site market, therefore reducing their need to travel and to purchase supplies.

We plan to partner with universities, such as SUNY, Cornell and The Culinary Institute of America, to establish a mutually beneficial and long-standing apprenticeship programs.
